Thomas Wrigglesworth
Wigglesworth or Wrigglesworth? This gravestone records both. Thomas Wrigglesworth was baptised on the 15th January 1792 at St Michael and All Angels Church, Thornhill. The son of John Wrigglesworth, he married Mary and they had children: Sarah M. 1826, Mary Elizabeth 1827, John 1829 and Ellen (or Helen as it says on the gravestone) in about 1830. The burial register for St Peter's records her as Ellen Wrigglesworth. Sack the mason, I think!
Thomas is described as a shopkeeper on his children's baptism entries. The 1851 census shows unmarried sisters Elizabeth and Mary living on Cluntergate, Sarah is a shopkeeper.
The inscription reads:
"In memory of Helen, daughter of Thomas Wigglesworth of Horbury who departed this life on the 3rd day of November 1840 aged 9 years and 6 months.
Also Mary, the beloved wife of Thomas Wrigglesworth, and mother of the above, who departed this life on the 6th day of May 1846, aged 54 years..
Also of the above Thomas Wrigglesaworth who died on the 4th April 1850, aged 58 years."
